Military vehicles must travel everywhere – through forests, fields, swamps, and hills. Every day they carry equipment, weapons, supplies, and military personnel. The “Trucks on Tracks” project is specifically involved in repairing such large four-wheel-drive trucks. We take old machines that rust on storage bases of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and transform them into “iron horses” that faithfully serve the Territorial Defense Forces on the front lines.
Currently, with the help of businesses, 17 vehicles have been repaired for defenders and sent to 6 military units. More than 2 million hryvnias have been spent on repairs. On average, the restoration of one truck costs $2500-$3000.
The cost includes not only parts but also transportation from the storage location, labor, and fuel. Let’s take the example of the recently modernized GAZ-66. The fuel tank cost 12,000 hryvnias, the tent cost 15,000 hryvnias, and the battery and radiator cost from 3000 hryvnias. Among the most expensive parts are special tires. One wheel for the same GAZ-66 costs from 20,000 hryvnias. And four of them plus a spare are needed. For “Ural”, “Kamaz”, and “Zil”, six are needed in total.
Multiply the cost of repairing one vehicle by 4000, as that is how many defenders need on the front lines. “Trucks on Tracks” continues – we are now supported by 7 partners and there is no day without repair.
Soldiers need trucks, trucks need repairs, and “Trucks on Tracks” needs friends, benefactors, partners, and sponsors. The Territorial Defense Command approves, the soldiers are grateful, and the machines are restored.
